Staff from Ole Today and the Daily Nexus to Appear on MTV’s The Real World: Isla Vista

Isla Vista — Oletoday.com to interact with the Daily Nexus in a revival of MTV’s The Real World.

By someone other than Dick Hurtz:

This Thursday, February 4th, at 11AM,  staff from Oletoday.com will move into the Marley House with staff from the Daily Nexus. Hidden cameras will be placed in inconspicuous locations such as plants and bunt-cakes to videotape the month-long event.

This event is known as MTV’s The Real World: Isla Vista. IV was chosen for it’s “funky, but not freaky” vibe.

Much attention will be paid to Oletoday.com’s humor columnist, Dick Hurtz and The Daily Nexus’s Igor Hiller. Dick’s claims of Igor being embarrassingly emotionally reactive and Igor’s claims of Dick irrationally touting his horn of “King of All Humor” will finally come to light in the uncomfortable, awkward close quarters of The Real World. This writer predicts an all out UFC style brawl between the two contestants.

Other participants to keep an eye on will be Shounak Dharap from Oletoday.com and Travis Miller from the Daily Nexus. Two weeks prior to the decision to publicize the tension between Oletoday.com and the Daily Nexus, Mr. Dharap and Mr. Miller got into an altercation involving maple-syrup balloons and a water balloon launcher. Shounak claims he was just defending himself by launching maple syrup balloons at Travis, but Travis claims otherwise. The incident was hilariously posted in The Daily Nexus’s Police Blotter as a form of revenge against Shounak.

I got to hang around the Marley House as MTV was setting up, the only condition being, I was promised to “not act, all like, wow!” The sorority girls hanging around outside the house declined to say anything other than giving out their phone numbers.

Another interesting duo to watch out for will be Jen Woo and Alison Bailey. An agreement was made such that the respective editors switch positions after filming of the event. Alison was gleefully elated following the announcement while Jen was violently furious given the deadlines and workloads of the Nexus. To bring everyone up to speed, Oletoday.com is a laid back publication as they only require you to turn in one article before you graduate. The Nexus is the type of place that has a pet gimp in the storage closet, named Igor Hiller, whom they feed chunky bowls of milk to.

You all might remember last Tuesday, when, in a welcome back day ruckus, Evan Wagstaff pulled off David Mcafee’s towel in the Rainbow house dorm after a sensual shower. Evan didn’t think David would mind, except he did it in front of the entire dorm at an RA meeting. The good news is that both Evan and David are going to be on The Real World: Isla Vista. Even better is that David has issued a restraining order against Wagstaff that restricts them to fifty feet apart. How that will play out in a house with eight bedrooms, we’ll never know. My guess involves a confrontation resulting in either Wagstaff getting two black eyes, one purple mushroom in the butt or both.

John Greely, sports editor of the Daily Nexus is expected to be voted out almost immediately due to the high tension levels he has brought to work in the past. Rumors are circulating Greely has been bringing Mackenzie Weinger, Nexus Chief Editor, bouquets of flowers on a daily basis and spending long hours in the back office filing S.E.X. reports. These are not to be confused with the regular, T.P.S. reports the Nexus has to also file.

Throwing a bunch of spoiled kids into a house and videotaping them fighting will never get old. That is why The Real World: Isla Vista promises to be one for the history books. This writer hopes MTV will not overrun the whole neighborhood and ruin the town we all know and love. Keep an eye next month for the coverage of MTV’s The Real World/Road Rules competition.
