The Sounds Set to Play UCSB

SANTA BARBARA, CA – October 19, 2009 – The University of California Santa Barbara Associated Students Program Board will be sponsoring the Sounds in the UCSB Hub on October 19th, 2009. Doors will open at 8:30pm and the show will be open to all ages.

The Sounds come all the way from Sweden to impress Santa Barbara with their upbeat and energetic live performance. Fresh from opening for the No Doubt and Paramore tour, The Sounds will begin a worldwide tour early September that will continue until December. This tour will promote their third album, Crossing the Rubicon, which was released in May 2009.

Headed by Maja Ivarsson, a stunningly beautiful Swedish rocker, The Sounds offer a mix of indie, alternative, and new wave sounds. Rolling Stone magazine has proclaimed “her poppy-yet-gritty voice works perfectly with the band’s early-Eighties synth-infused music.” Along with hits songs “Ego” and “Tony the Beat” The Sounds have collaborated with such artists as Cobra Starship and joined bands like Panic! At the Disco to create a solid, supportive fan base.

Foxy Shazam was formed in Cincinnati, Ohio in 2004 and provides a fusion of experimental rock, soul and progressive rock. The latest album, “Introducing Foxy,” released in January 2008, was made to be “a feel-good dance party,” according to vocalist Eric Nally.

Tickets will be on sale October 1st, 2009 at the Associated Students Ticket Office on the UCSB campus and can be ordered by phone at (805)893-2064. Tickets will also be sold the night of the concert if not sold out beforehand.
